PETALING JAYA, 29–30 September 2026 – Dismantling wildlife trafficking syndicates through a "follow-the-money" framework! Organised by TRAFFIC Southeast Asia in collaboration with the NFCC, this two-day technical workshop empowered law enforcement agencies to advance beyond conventional physical seizures by leveraging Anti-Money Laundering (AMLA) legislation to bring syndicate masterminds to justice.
The workshop brought together domestic and international subject matter experts from the NFCC, the Royal Malaysia Police Wildlife Crime Bureau (WCB PDRM), Royal Malaysian Customs Department (JKDM), Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC/SPRM), Central Bank of Malaysia (BNM), Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC), Department of Wildlife and National Parks Peninsular Malaysia (PERHILITAN), Sarawak State Attorney-General's Chambers, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability (NRES), Department of Fisheries, and the Sabah Wildlife Department.
Participants gained hands-on competencies in tactical financial investigations, asset tracing and recovery mechanisms, and practical case-building simulations. The initiative successfully bridged operational divides between environmental crime enforcement and complex financial forensics. Underpinning this paradigm shift, the NFCC—via the Anti-Scam Tactical Response & Intelligence Centre (ASTRIC)—remains committed to supporting joint operational tasks, delivering advisory services, and providing ongoing technical support to Investigating Officers for successful AMLA prosecutions. Together, we sever illicit financial pipelines to protect our natural heritage.
