BRIEFING SESSION WITH THE YB STATE SECRETARY OF SARAWAK

KUCHING, 25 February 2026 –

The National Financial Crime Centre (NFCC) conducted a briefing on the Policy for the Management of Seized and Forfeited Property and the Proposed Amendments to the National Financial Crime Centre Act 2019 [Act 822] to YB Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Abu Bakar Bin Marzuki, State Secretary of Sarawak, at the Office of the State Secretary of Sarawak on 25 February 2026. The briefing was led by YBhg. Dato’ Sri Shamshun Baharin bin Mohd Jamil, Director General of NFCC, together with senior officers of NFCC.

Following several questions and related matters raised by the State Secretary of Sarawak during the briefing delivered by NFCC to the YB State Secretaries at the Meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee between the Federal Government and the State Governments No. 1 of 2026 on 10 February 2026, NFCC took the initiative to hold this briefing to provide further clarification on the policy for the management of seized and forfeited property as well as the proposed amendments to Act 822, in order to ensure a more comprehensive understanding and to address the issues raised.

It is hoped that through this briefing, the property management policy to be implemented by NFCC will receive full support and cooperation from the states, in line with the spirit of federalism as enshrined in the Federal Constitution.
