Fraser's Hill, 20 May – The Legal Affairs Division (BUU), in collaboration with the Asset Recovery Integration and Governance Division (BITARA), organised the Workshop on Finalising the Proposed Amendments to Act 822 at the Ministry of Defence Public Training Centre (PLATIH), Fraser's Hill, Pahang.
The primary objective of the workshop was to review, refine, and finalise the draft Amendment Bill to Act 822 relating to the Policy on the Management of Seized and Forfeited Property. The proposed amendments are essential to incorporate specific provisions governing the management of seized and forfeited assets, in line with the recommendations endorsed by the Chief Secretary to the Government.
In addition, the workshop aimed to identify and address any gaps, inconsistencies, or overlapping provisions within the draft legislation. This initiative is intended to ensure that the proposed law is comprehensive, well-structured, legally coherent, and consistent with existing legislation before being submitted to the Attorney General's Chambers (AGC) for further review.
